Introducing Mitsubishi Electric’s New Wi-Fi Heat Pump Energy Monitoring Feature

The future of home energy efficiency is here! Mitsubishi Electric’s new Wi-Fi Heat Pump Energy Monitoring feature is now available through their Wi-Fi Control App, bringing power and savings directly into your hands. With heating and cooling accounting for up to 30% of a typical household's energy bill, understanding your heat pump’s energy usage is crucial for optimising your power consumption, saving money, and reducing your environmental footprint.
Why is Energy Monitoring Important?
New Zealand households have been able to monitor their overall energy use through power companies, but specific data on individual appliances has been harder to access—until now. Mitsubishi Electric’s energy monitoring technology lets you track your heat pump’s real-time energy consumption directly from your mobile device, allowing you to see exactly how much energy your heating or cooling is using and make smart, eco-friendly adjustments. Small changes, such as reducing your set temperature by 1°C, can save up to 10% in energy usage, without sacrificing comfort!
How Does It Work?
Unlike other apps that rely on estimated energy data, Mitsubishi Electric’s Wi-Fi Heat Pump Control App uses real-time feedback from the heat pump’s outdoor unit to give accurate readings of energy consumption. This level of precision allows you to make informed decisions to improve energy efficiency.

Feature Overview: Mitsubishi Electric's Wi-Fi Heat Pump Energy Monitoring
View Energy Usage by Month, Day or Hour
Using your smartphone, tablet or desktop, you can see at a glance on a monthly, daily and even hourly basis what the indicative energy consumption (kWh) and the indicative energy costs of running your heat pump looks like in dollars ($).
Depending on the indoor and outdoor unit combination, some units will display an 'Indicative Energy' view in gold or an 'Enhanced View' in blue.
Enhanced Energy View
Models with an Enhanced Energy View have updated software in the outdoor unit. This allows measurement of energy usage in smaller increments, meaning the visualisation of power usage is more detailed, especially in the hourly view.

Indicative Energy View
Models with an Indicative Energy View measure energy values in slightly larger increments.

Energy Monitoring Tips For a More Efficient Home
Small changes can make a big impact with energy monitoring technology:
- Reduce by 1°C to Save: Lowering the temperature by just 1°C can reduce energy use by up to 10%. Dropping it by 2°C can save up to 20% without sacrificing comfort.
- No Need to Overheat: Setting the temperature higher than needed won’t warm your room faster—it just makes the heat pump work harder.
- Avoid Overcooling: Setting the temperature too low in summer won’t cool your room quicker; it increases energy consumption.
- Health and Comfort: Keep rooms between 19°C and 21°C for overall well-being. For better sleep, set your bedroom to 18°C.

Compatability
Mitsubishi Electric’s Energy Monitoring feature is compatible with a wide range of models, including the popular EcoCore AP Series and Designer EF Series, so more households can benefit from this cutting-edge technology.
The Path to a Sustainable Future
As New Zealanders become more conscious of their environmental impact, the ability to monitor and reduce household energy usage is a key step in the journey towards sustainability. Mitsubishi Electric is proud to support this shift with innovative technology that empowers users to take control of their energy consumption.
